Be Prepared for Increased Traffic and Event Disruptions
Murwillumbah, NSW – The Murwillumbah Showgrounds is set to host the Australian Girl Guides Jamboree – “Bush 2 Beach”, bringing a week-long celebration of adventure, community, and youth development to the heart of the Tweed region. The event will take place on Sunday, 28 September, through Sunday, 5 October 2025.
From midday Wednesday 24 September, through to Tuesday 7 October 2025, the Showgrounds will be closed to the general public to accommodate the Jamboree. This will mean that the usual markets scheduled to take place during this period will be impacted.
What to Expect
Increased Traffic & Parking Congestion
The Jamboree will welcome hundreds of youth Guides and adult leaders from across Australia, including international visitors, creating a surge in traffic flow near the Showgrounds.
Attendees arriving and departing during certain days, via buses, will likely cause parking demand, as well as temporary pressure on local road networks.
Road congestion and higher parking demand are anticipated near the Showgrounds throughout the event period.
Restricted Access to the Showgrounds
From 24 September to 7 October, public access to the Murwillumbah Showgrounds will be restricted for safety, security, and event operations.
Only event personnel, volunteers, and registered Jamboree participants will be permitted within the event zone.
The only exception will be on the weekly market day, which a small portion of the site will open to the public.
Monthly Murwillumbah Market to Proceed (with Limited Access)
The beloved Murwillumbah Community Market will continue as scheduled during this period.
However, the market will operate from a reduced footprint on the Showgrounds site.
There will be no access to the remainder of the Showgrounds during this time, and all visitors are asked to follow signage and directions from event marshals.
What We Ask of the Community
Plan Ahead: Consider alternate routes and allow extra time when travelling near the Showgrounds between 24 September and 7 October.
Stay Informed: Watch the local council and Showgrounds’ social media pages and bulletins for updates on markets and traffic management.
Support the Event: The Jamboree will bring vibrancy and economic activity to Murwillumbah. Please welcome our visitors warmly!
A Message to the Community
We thank the Murwillumbah community for your support and understanding during this exciting International event. Your patience and cooperation will help make the Australian Girl Guides Bush 2 Beach Jamboree a memorable and successful experience for all involved, and a great opportunity to showcase Murwillumbah’s hospitality to the rest of the country.
